  1. Kathryn and I marched in Glasgow, joining 5,000 others. The march was fun and very peaceful. Despite that, I felt denied my democratic right to protest - as it was a Saturday in December, the police decided that Christmas shopping was more important than the sustainability of the planet! The march was diverted down backstreets and industrial areas, so the march didn't stop any pedestrians or cars from their normal business... we ended up with an unseen protest. At least the London march attracted news coverage - they had about 50,000 marchers, but this still wasn't enough to have the march register with government officially (1% of the population has to be out marching: in England the population is c. 60m, so 60,000 was the magic number!).
