What can we do with unwanted electronic goods, other than landfill? ECOFUTURE

Ideally mobile telephones can go to help OXFAM and other charities who recycle them. There is an Oxfam shop in Morningside Road

However a private firm, ECOFUTURE, in Edinburgh and the Lothians, will arrange free collection (apart from televisions) of working or broken electronic equipment and promise to strip down and RECYCLE it. Significantly they will uplift and promise "Any data carrying devices will be physically destroyed and certificate of data destruction can be provided upon request.
On-site data destrucion available"

"All types of computers, laptops, LCD screens, printers, cables, computer components Freeview boxes, DVD players, mobile phones, mp3 players, digital cameras, portable DVD players, land-line phones, etc.
any other electronic equipment
Equipment can be working or non-working"

They collect week days from businesses and only Saturday/Sunday for private addresses. You can book a collection on 0800 999 88 77 (open 9am-6pm Monday-Friday). It is worth persisting (in our experience) if the phone is not answered the first time you call. Please give feed back to the MBC FaSTeam of your experience, good or bad. We only want to recommend helpful organisations.
